Twenty-One Year Old Female Convicted of Having Sex with Eighth Grader

On April 9, 2009, Jacquelynn Faye Fielding of Marysville, California, was convicted by jury of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of 16 in violation of Penal Code section 261.5(d), a felony, annoying molesting a child in violation of Penal Code section 647.6(a), a misdemeanor, and furnishing alcohol to a minor in violation of Business and Professions Code section 25658, a misdemeanor.

The offense occurred on December 23, 2007, when Fielding was 21 and the victim was a 14 year old eighth grader.  Fielding and the victim met at the go-kart racing events in Red Bluff and Chico.  They started a friendship which developed into talking on MySpace.  Many of the communications on MySpace revolved around sex.  After months of talking on MySpace, Fielding and the victim came up with a plan to meet at a house that belonged to the victim’s friend.  The friend and the friend’s family were away for Christmas.  While at the house Fielding provided alcohol to the victim and they had sexual intercourse two times.  Fielding and the victim had previously had sex at one of the race tracks in Red Bluff.  Obtaining copies of the sexual communications from MySpace helped secure the convictions.

The Defendant will be sentenced May 29, 2009 before Honorable Judge Bradley Boeckman, she faces up to four years in prison.  The case represents another example of why it is important for parents to be aware of their children’s activities on the internet.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Michael Hemker.  The case was investigated by Redding Police Department Investigator Kristen Fredrick and District Attorney Investigator Jeremy Duval.
