PRESS RELEASE
November 17, 2009
Timothy Flanagan,
36, of
Flanagan went on a crime spree between the months of February and July of 2009. During this time frame he committed approximately 14 burglaries. Flanagan targeted vehicles parked in residential neighborhoods that had been left unlocked. Frequently these vehicles were parked inside of a garage that the victims had left open or cracked open before going to bed. The burglaries would occur at night as the victims slept in their home. Flanagan would enter the garage and/or vehicles and steal various items including stereo equipment, ipods, tools, sunglasses, GPS systems and cash.
Flanagan was ultimately linked to these burglaries by Redding Police Department Detectives. Once confronted, Flanagan confessed to most of the burglaries RPD thought he was responsible for, including a few additional burglaries that had gone unreported by the victims. Fingerprint evidence was used to link him to three additional burglaries that he had not mentioned in his confession.
The case was investigated by Redding
Police Department Detective Scott Hyatt and was prosecuted by Senior Deputy District
Attorney
