Yesterday, two District Attorney Investigators were involved in a motor vehicle collision in the construction area of Highway 44 just east of Auditorium Drive. Both investigators were driving their county assigned units.  Both investigators were on duty at the time and were en route to different locations.  Both investigators were stopped in the outside lane of eastbound Highway 44 behind other traffic when a female driver of a van failed to stop, colliding into the rear of the first investigator pushing her vehicle into the second investigator, which pushed his vehicle into a fourth vehicle. The van had to be towed from the accident scene, while the other three vehicles were still operational.

 

Both investigators sought medical attention the following day for muscle strains to their neck and back. One investigator returned to work and the other is expected to return to work on November 7, 2008. No other injuries were reported.

 

California Highway Patrol was called to the scene and conducted an investigation. A report of the accident investigation is pending.  No alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision.
